1LD: 4 Egyptian soldiers killed by roadside bomb in North Sinai

Four soldiers, including a military officer, were killed and another three wounded Thursday in Egypt's North Sinai, according to the military spokesperson.

The incident took place as a roadside bomb struck a passing armoured vehicle during an army raid in the town of Rafah, spokesperson Brig. Gen. Mohamed Samir said in a statement.

Egypt's army has been fighting rising militant insurgency operating from the Sinai Peninsula.

Hundreds of police and army personnel have been targeted and killed in terrorist attacks in North Sinai and other provinces nationwide. Endit
