EU foreign policy chief to visit Saudi Arabia, Iran

Xinhua, July 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini will travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday and visit Iran on Tuesday, the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced here Thursday.

During her stay in Iran, Mogherini will meet Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and representatives of Iranian authorities.

The visit to Iran "will provide an opportunity for exchanges on the implementation of the agreement," the EEAS said in a press release, noting that the visit comes following the conclusion of a historic agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

During her official visit to Saudi Arabia, Mogherini will meet with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and other government officials.

Topics on the agenda will include bilateral relations, regional issues in the aftermath of the newly-reached nuclear agreement and some international issues of common interests. Endi
