Xinhua, July 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 10 people were killed while more than 30 others wounded after a suicide bomb attack hit a marketplace in Afghanistan's northern province of Faryab on Wednesday, official sources said.

The attack took place in the morning in the Almar district's bazaar and majority of the victims were civilians, a provincial source told Xinhua anonymously. "Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures. Details about the attacker still remained unknown,"the source said.

The casualties were shifted to nearby hospitals by ambulances and police vehicles.

The number of casualties might further rise as several injured were in critical condition, the source added.

Almar district is located in western part of the provincial capital Maimana city.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

The province, some 425 km northwest of Afghan capital, has been the scene of heavy clashes between the Taliban militant group and security forces over the past couple of weeks. Endi
