At least 20 killed by two car bombs in Iraq

Xinhua, July 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

20 Iraqis were killed and 52 others wounded when two car bombs exploded on Tuesday in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Iraqi police source said.

"The parked car bomb exploded in the New Baghdad area south of Baghdad, killing 18 people, including women and children, wounding 43 others and causing material damage to a number of nearby buildings and shops," a source in the Iraqi police told Xinhua.

The source said a second parked car bomb exploded near a gas station in the Zaafaraniya area south of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding nine others.

The security situation in Iraq has drastically deteriorated since June 2014, when bloody clashes broke out between Iraqi security forces and IS militants. Endit
