Poland to accommodate 2000 refugees: PM

Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz informed on Tuesday that Poland will provide shelter for 2000 refugees in the coming two years.

Kopacz informed that during the meeting held on Monday in Brussels, Poland expressed its will to accommodate 1100 refugees from Italy and Greece within the relocation program, and also ensure place for another 900 people from the non-EU refugees camps.

Polish Prime Minister said it is an implementation of the European solidarity slogan and that the refugees will not be economical immigrants, but rather people fleeing from the direct threats to their lives.

During the press conference, Kopacz informed that Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on preparing refugees centers as well as the whole logistic backgrounds, including the schools for children, work opportunities for the adults and many others.

The refugees, mostly from Syria and Eritrea, will be accommodates systematically within the years 2016-2017. All of the people entering the country will be first thoroughly checked by the services. Afterwards, they will be treated with medical care, language apprehension and immigration programs.

The decision of Poland is a result of the European Council recommendation in June which requests that the EU countries should accept around 60, 000 people by the end of July. Endit
