State Council appoints Hong Kong gov't officials

China's State Council, the cabinet, on Tuesday appointed new officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.

In moves in line with the Basic Law of the HKSAR, the State Council appointed Lau Kong-wah as Secretary for Home Affairs, replacing Tsang Tak-sing, and Cheung Wan-ching as Secretary for the Civil Service, replacing Tang Kwok-wai.

The officials were nominated by Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying. Endi
