Remains of senior legislator Cheng Siwei cremated

The remains of Cheng Siwei, a renowned Chinese economist and former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, were cremated in Beijing on Monday.

Chinese top leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli, attended the funeral at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery, west Beijing, on Monday morning.

They paid their last respects to the remains, and offered his family their condolences.

Cheng died of illness on July 12 in Beijing at the age of 80.

He was also former chairman of China National Democratic Construction Association Central Committee and former leader of the National Association of Vocational Education of China. Endit
