1st LD: Blast kills at least 10 in SE Turkey

Xinhua, July 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 10 people were killed and more than 20 others wounded in a huge explosion in southeastern Turkey near the border with Syria on Monday, local media reported.

Many ambulances have been dispatched to the scene after an explosion in front of Amara Cultural Center of Suruc district in Sanliurfa province, private NTV news channel reported.

Sanliurfa governor's office will make a press statement at the cultural center soon, said the report.

No organization or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.

Suruc is a predominately Kurdish town across the border from the Syrian town of Ayn al-Arab, also known as Kobane. It has played a major role in the crossings of Kurdish refugees from Syrian towns into Turkey. Endit
