Two-time FIFA World Player of the Year winner Ronaldinho said Sunday his desire to win a first Brazilian league title is what motivated him to join Fluminense.
The 35-year-old signed an 18-month deal with the four-time Brazilian Serie A champions last week after terminating his contract with Mexico's Queretaro in June
The Rio de Janeiro club reportedly beat off interest in the attacker from a host of other clubs in Europe, Argentina, China and the US.
"What motivated me is a title that I don't have - the Brazilian championship," Ronaldinho said. "It motivates me a lot. It is a great club with great players. We have everything it takes to be champions."
The former Barcelona star spoke to the media after being presented to Fluminense's fans before their match with Vasco da Gama at the Maracana stadium, which the latter won 2-1.
It will be Ronaldinho's fourth Brazilian club, having also represented Gremio, Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro.
He said: "It's good to return for a big club. I'm very happy and motivated.
"I wanted to play after seeing the stadium [Maracana] and the fans with all their support. My legs are trembling with desire to play."
Ronaldinho revealed that he had sought advice from veteran Fluminense striker Fred - his former Brazil teammate - before committing to the club.
"I talked with a few Fluminense players to find out how everything is here," the 2002 World Cup winner said. "Fred told me about life at the club and living in Rio. I hope we can be successful together."
Ronaldinho will not begin training with the club until July 27. Endi
