The vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg, Laurent Mosar, spoke highly of China's contributions to the victory of the 2nd World War in his speech on Friday at the a symposium celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the world's Anti-Fascist war.

"We talk about a lot of efforts of Europe, the United States, Russia, but I really think we should also mention the efforts of the Chinese people," said Mr Mosar at a symposium organized by the Chinese community in Luxembourg, referring to the war efforts in the Second World War.

Many Chinese fought against Japan on the eastern front, he said, adding that the number of Chinese who perished in the war amounted to 35 million.

China has therefore a "great" merit in the victory of the Second World War and the Chinese people have done much for the freedom of the world today, he insisted.

Talking about Chinese community in Luxembourg, he said: "The Chinese community is very well integrated in our country and has great contributions to the economic success of Luxembourg." Endit
