Croatian government decided on Thursday that Croatia would receive and accommodate 550 refugees and asylum seekers, a reaction to a plea of the European Union in early July.
EU's plan included relocation of 40,000 asylum seekers coming from outside EU and resettlement of additional 20,000 refugees coming from outside Europe.
With its decision, Croatia decided to relocate 400 asylum seekers and resettle 150 refugees within Croatia. Croatia would receive both citizens of third countries or stateless persons, and accommodated them for a period of 2 years, if they qualify for international protection.
Croatia has set up an interdepartmental working group, including representatives of all state bodies responsible for tasks connected with admission, accommodation and integration of refugees, which will coordinate the whole process. Endit
