Brazil international Robson de Souza Robinho has joined Chinese Super League defending champion Guangzhou Evergrande on a six-month deal, the club announced on its website on Thursday.

Robinho, tipped as the "Pele's successor", has been linked with a move to Guangzhou Evergrande after his contract with Brazil's Santos expired on June 30.

And the 31-year-old striker, who joins the defending champion before the deadline of the transfer window, will play alongside his teammate in Brazilian national side Jose Paulo Bezerra Maciel Junior (Paulinho).

With the pinnacle of his career coming in 2007 when Brazil claimed the champion of Copa America after a victory over the arch rival Argentina, Robinho was awarded the The Best Shooter and the Best Player.

Robinho who started his career in Santos also won two La Liga tiles with the Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid in 2006-2008 and one Serie A title with AC Milan during a 3-year spell at the San Siro.

Guangzhou Evergrande have been suffering the injury issues since the beginning of this season, and Robinho will ease the pressure on Evergrande's forward line. Endi
