After their impressive show last week which saw them win three matches and qualify for the Africa Rugby Tier 1A, Uganda moved in the ranking to 48th with 46.35 points.

"We are happy that we have improved," said Ramzy Olinga, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Rugby Union (URU).

According to the rankings by World Rugby, New Zealand are top with 93.70 points, while South Africa and Ireland are second and third respectively. Uganda who have been rankled 50th and playing in the lower Tier 1B moved above Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire.

Kenya remained the best ranked nation in the East and Central African region at 30th, while Madagascar who finished second behind Uganda in the just ended Africa Rugby Tier B tournament improved to 41st place.

Meanwhile Uganda Rugby Cranes have vowed that they are ready for the Africa Rugby Tier 1A challenge.

The Ugandan team beat Cote d'Ivoire, Mauritius and Botswana in the Africa Rugby Tier 1B tournament played in Kampala last week. Uganda who finished with 15 points edged Madagascar by a point on the standings. The Madagascar team had also won all their matches but failed to earn a bonus point in one of the games.
