Iranian nuclear deal step to protect world stability: Putin

The deal on the Iranian nuclear program inked by Teheran and six major world powers is a step to protect world stability, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.
"Despite the attempts to justify forceful scenarios, the negotiators made a firm choice in favor of stability and cooperation, which will be assigned to a UN Security Council resolution," the Kremlin press service cited Putin as saying.
A comprehensive agreement was clinched Tuesday between Iran and the P5 Plus One group -- namely Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany -- after more than two weeks of bargaining in Vienna, the capital of Austria.
Noting that the relevant sides have been negotiating the agreement for many years, Putin said the world today "breathes a sign of relief."
Moscow welcomes the deal and is satisfied that the decision was based on the solid foundation of international laws, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards the agreement.
Putin thanked all participants of the talks who have consistently supported the process of finding a reliable diplomatic and political solution to the Iranian nuclear problem.
He expected the IAEA to carefully monitor the implementation of the nuclear deal and all relevant sides to fully comply with the provisions of the agreement.
Russia would do everything possible for the full implementation of the agreement to safeguard regional and international non-proliferation regimes and stability, Putin said.
The president also noted that the Vienna deal injects new impetus into Russia-Iran relations, including their cooperation in the area of the peaceful use of nuclear energy, while external restrictive factors, in particular international sanctions against Iran, will be gradually removed.
The deal specifies key areas such as sanction relief and an action plan, nuclear technology cooperation, an implementation monitoring committee, the capping of Iran's nuclear capacity as well as drafting a UN Security Council resolution. Endi
