Indian-controlled Kashmir to curb separatist rally

Authorities Monday imposed restrictions in Srinagar, summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, to thwart a joint rally called by various separatist groups.

"For maintaining law and order, restrictions were imposed across areas falling under six police stations today," a senior police official said.

Contingents of Indian police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were enforcing restrictions in these areas since morning to foil any attempt by separatists.

Kashmir, a Himalayan region, is divided between India and Pakistan.
