Emiliano Insua moved from Club Atletico de Madrid to Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart, the Germans announced in an official statement on Saturday.

Stuttgart strengthened their defence with the signing of the 26-year-old defender, who inked a three-year contract that will keep him with the "Swabians" until June 2018. Insua received the jersey number two at his new club.

"The signing of Emiliano Insua is another important step of our squad planning. We are delighted that he will wear our jersey. We wish him a good start at the VfB," Stuttgart's sporting director Robin Dutt said.

The new arrival played already for a number of clubs in Europe. He played overall 187 official games and made also appearances in UEFA Champions League and Europa League where he scored eight goals.

Insu earned his first call up for Argentina national soccer team, also know as the la Albiceleste, in 2009 to make four caps ever since.

His new club encounter Cologne at the first round of the Bundesliga on August 15. Endi
