Nigeria to unveil new Super Eagles coach next week

Xinhua, July 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's football governing body said on Friday that it will between Wednesday and Thursday next week unveil former captain Sunday Oliseh as the new Super Eagles head coach.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ademola Olajire said the federation had almost concluded talks with the former Super Eagles captain.

Olajire said an offer had been made to the player by the NFF and all the final details of the agreement had also been concluded.

The Nigerian football body had earlier in the week confirmed it was holding talks with Oliseh with regards to the vacant position at the Super Eagles.

The NFF had last weekend terminated the appointment of another former captain, Stephen Keshi, over breaches of core terms of his contract.

The federation said Oliseh would come with a foreign technical assistant, whose job description would center on development programs.

It said the foreign technical assistant would work with league clubs' youth teams and certified academies towards developing the game from the grassroots.

The NFF had said coach Salisu Yusuf, who had earlier been named as the assistant coach in the interim technical crew, would be in the new team.

It however pointed out that his role would be with greater devotion to the home-based team, known as Super Eagles B. Endi
