Ghana's Asamoah Gyan signs two-year contract with China's SIPG

Xinhua, July 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan has completed his move to Chinese club Shanghai SIPG after signing a two-year contract on Friday.

Gyan signed the deal with an option for renewal after passing a routine medical.

The Black Stars captain and striker will be unveiled at a press conference in Shanghai next week.

Shanghai SIPG was unable to organize a press conference to unveil Gyan as its latest signing because the team is traveling to Guangzhou to face R&F in an away league match, according to the attacker's official website.

"I thank God for this special day," said Gyan after signing the mega-deal.

Gyan has bagged 95 goals in 83 league matches in his four seasons for Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The SIPG club was founded on December 25, 2005, as Shanghai Dongya F.C. by former Chinese international football coach Xu Genbao.

It is owned by the Chinese group Shanghai International Port Group and has the 56,842 seating capacity Shanghai stadium as its home venue. Enditem
