Djockovic beats Gasquet to reach Wimbledon final

Xinhua, July 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Defending champion Novak Djockovic beat Frechman Richard Gasquet in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon final here on Friday.

The world No. 1 Serb, also the winner in 2011, won 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 20 minutes and extended his record against the 21st-seeded Gasquet to 12-1.

It was Djockovic's 7th consecutive Wimbledon semifinal and after losing to Stan Wawrinka in the French Open final, he looks in form to win a second Grand Slam champion after the Australian Open victory in January.

The 28-year-old will next take on the winner of the other semifinal between seven-time champion Roger Federer and 2013 winner Andy Murray, which will be held later on Centre Court.

The final will be held on Sunday. Endit
