Robin Van Persie agrees Fenerbahce deal

Xinhua, July 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has agreed a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce and is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Friday, reported Turkish daily Bugun Thursday.

Fenerbahce will pay Manchester United a total of nine million euros while the Dutch international will earn more than the 330,000 pounds weekly wage he had at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old underwent a medical check on Thursday afternoon in London.

Van Persie has struggled to break into the first team at Manchester United since Louis Van Gaal took reign in the 2014-2015 Season. He had scored 10 goals out of 29 games last season.

Last season runner-up Fenerbahce has made international headlines in the summer transfer market with signing Manchester United's Portuguese winger Nani for 6 million euros early in the week.

The Istanbul-based side is undergoing an ambitious renewal of its squad ahead of next year's UEFA Champions League campaign. Fenerbahce have also brought in coach Vitor Periera, Danish skipper Simon Kjaer from Lille, 28-year-old Brazilian goal scorer Fernandao amongst others.

Besiktas, city rival of Fenerbahce, also made moves to renew its squad by reportedly to have secured 28-year-old Chelsea striker Loic Remy on loan.

Besiktas finished third in the domestic league after spending a majority of the season in close contention for the title. Endi
