Chinese shooters shot down two silver medals at the Gwangju Universiade here on Thursday.

In men's 25m standard pistol, Wang Zhiwei fired 564 points, only one point lower than France's Jean Quiquampoix to capture the day's first silver for China.

His teammates Chen Kehan and Cao Keyuan combined for 1,111 points, and were outlasted by two points by France's 1,677 points to rank the second in men's 25m standard pistol team.

As the rapid pistol champion of China's National Games, Chen Kehan also won the gold medal in men's 25m rapid fire pistol on Wednesday.

"It's an encouragement for me to win these medals here. I will be more confident in our qualification trials for Rio 2016 in September," said the junior from the Guangzhou Sports University.

China's Chen Dongqi broke the women's 50m rifle three positions universiade record with 590 points in the qualification but failed to keep the momentum by finishing the seventh in the final. Ilie Laura-Georgeta from Romania snatched the title with 454.4 points.

Russia shot down the gold of men's skeet team with a total of 348 points while Menelaos Michaelides of Cyprus claimed the victory in the individual final. Endi
