Singapore's PM concerned about train services disruption

Xinhua, July 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Wednesday that he was very concerned about a major disruption to the country's train services during peak hours on Tuesday evening.

Lee updated his Facebook on Wednesday, saying he has visited operator SMRT's Bishan Depot to see the maintenance operations and teams, and he has also been briefed on the situation at Land Transport Authority.

The prime minister expressed worries that the problem may recur as the root cause of the disruption has not been found yet. "Hope we identify and resolve the faults quickly, to prevent further inconvenience to commuters." said Lee.

Singapore's two main Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) lines came to a complete halt simultaneously during the evening peak on Tuesday, resulting in large number of stranded passengers along the two lines. The disruption last about three hours, which was possibly the worst public transport disruption Singapore has experienced. Endi
