Singapore stocks close 1.67 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 55. 94 points, or 1.67 percent, to close at 3,284.99.

A total of 1.82 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 61 billion Singapore dollars (1.19 billion U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 426 to 73, while 466 others finished unchanged.

The STI index up 7.99 points, or 0.24 percent, to close at 3, 340.93 on Tuesday. Endi
