Myanmar plans to boost industrial enterprises for power access

Myanmar Ministry of Electric Power is planning to boost industrial enterprises across the country for power access with new procedures of application process, according to an official report on Wednesday.
The ministry is introducing a rapid application process for electrification of private industrial sites, with requests to be processed within five days, said the Global New Light of Myanmar.
The ministry has set a target of supplying power to the entire country by 2030.
The ministry is generating around 43,500 kilowatt hours daily from 39 power plants, including 25 hydropower stations, 13-gas fired power plants and one coal plant, with total installed capacity of 4839.9 megawatts.
The ministry and private investors have signed a memorandum of understanding on the construction of a 300-megawatt power plant in Yangon Region and a 50-megawatt power station in Taninthayi Region.
In addition, foreign firms have agreed to invest in nine coal- fired power plants with capacities ranging from 270 to 2,640 megawatts throughout the country.
On completion, these plants are expected to generate more than 9,000 megawatts. Endi
