Mexico arrests 24 suspected kidnappers

Xinhua, July 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mexico's federal police successfully rescued five victims and captured 24 alleged kidnappers in recent operations carried out in four states, the Mexican Attorney General's Office (PGR) said on Tuesday.

Thanks to exchanges of information between the specialized units against kidnapping, this crime is being successfully contained and is decreasing, National Coordinator for the Prevention of Kidnapping Renato Sales told reporters.

From January to May 2015, 447 kidnappings were registered, down from 688 registered in the same period of 2014, representing a 35-percent decline year-on-year, added Sales.

In the first five months of 2015, 82 criminal gangs were broken up in the Latin American country and 510 suspected kidnappers were arrested, said Sales. Endi
