Algerian troops kill 102 militants in first six months: report

As many as 102 armed militants were killed by the Algerian army troops during the first half of 2015, according to an official report issued on Tuesday by the Defense Ministry.

The most heaviest toll was recorded in the central region of Algeria where 66 militants were killed, according to the report.

The most successful operation was conducted in the central province of Bouira, 120 km eastern Algeria's capital Algiers, in which 25 terrorists were killed.

A few militants affiliated to AQIM and the recently established IS affiliate group of Caliphate Soldiers are still taking refuge in the woods of central provinces of Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, near the capital city of Algiers.

Meanwhile, the report shows that during the first half year, some 653 explosive devices, including handmade bombs, grenades, and rockets, were destroyed, while 150 weapons of different types were retrieved. Endit
