China to offer continued assistance to earthquake-hit Nepal

Xinhua, July 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

China pledged reconstruction assistance to Nepal after a devastating earthquake in April, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Tuesday.

China will offer financial support to help with medium- and long-term projects, including infrastructure construction, heritage restoration and medical services, over the next three years, MOC spokesman Shen Danyang told a press conference.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook central Nepal on April 25 this year, killing more than 8,000 people.

The support package follows recommendations made by three Chinese teams that went to Nepal in early June.

The MOC, along with other ministries, will send a delegation to Nepal to discuss support plans later this month, according to Shen. Endi
