Xinhua, July 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

South Korea won four archery gold medals out of five available and Kim Jongho personally won three titles at the Gwangju Universiade on Tuesday.

First, it was the men's compound team event in which South Korea edged Mexico 230-229 for the title at Gwangju International Archery Center. Then the hosts' mixed compound team followed suit, beating India 157-150.

In the men's competition, Kim Taeyoon, Yang Youngho and Kim Jongho rallied for the narrow victory, closing out with two straight 10s and watching the Mexicans slip up with 9s on their final three arrows.

Later, Kim Jongho teamed up with Song Yunsoo for the mixed gold medal, defeating India's Kawalpreet Singh and Jyothi Surekha Vennam.

South Korea led 79-75 after two rounds, as Song Yunsoo shot four consecutive 10s while Kim Jongho contributed three scores of 10. Song fired two more 10s in the third round as South Korea put the match out of reach at 118-112.

Song Yunsoo's streak of 10s ended with the first arrow in the fourth round, but she found the center of the target with her final shot. Kim fired a pair of 10s in the final round to clinch the breezy 157-150 victory.

Kim Jongho became South Korea's archery triple gold medalist here after he beat Kim Taeyoon 147-145 in the men's compound individual showdown between two South Korean archers.

Song Yunsoo became the double gold medalist here as she narrowly edged off Toja Cerne of Slovenia through a shoot-off in the women's individual compound event.

Both archers scored 143 after five rounds and needed a shoot-off to decide the winner. Song Yunsoo had a closest 10 to prevail, though Cerne also nailed a 10.

The only other archery gold of the day went to Russia, which beat the United States 220-218 in the women's compound team. Endi
