Gun battle kills 2, wounds 10 in N. Afghanistan

Two persons, both armed insurgents, were killed and 10 others including a police constable sustained injuries as a clash erupted in the northern Baghlan province on Monday, provincial police chief Abdul Jabbar Purduli said.

"A group of armed Taliban raided a police checkpoint in Dand-e- Ghori district today morning and police returned fire which lasted for a while during which two rebels had been killed and 10 others including nine militants and a police constable sustained injuries, " Purduli told Xinhua.

Taliban militants haven't commented.

Dand-e-Ghori and Baghlan-e-Markazi districts in Baghlan province have been the scene of Taliban-led militancy over the past couple of years. Endi
