Olympic champion Yi Siling wins first shooting gold medal of Gwangju Universiade

Olympic champion and world record holder Yi Siling of China anchored her team to the title of women's 10-meter air rifle on the first day of shooting competition at the 2015 Gwangju Universiade on Sunday.

Yi, who took the first gold medal on offer at the 2012 London Olympic Games, teamed up with Chen Dongqi and Liu Yishuo to win the gold medal with a total of 1245.6 points, surpassing the previous Universiade record of 1245.4 set by Russia two years ago at the Kazan Universiade.

Yi and Chen Dongqi also qualified for the individual final of the event to be held later on Sunday.

It was the third gold medal for China at the Gwangju Universiade. Chinese divers won the first two of 13 diving titles on Saturday.

The Gwangju Universiade features 21 sports with 272 events from July 3 to 14. Endi
