Spain's unemployment falls 2.2 pct in June

The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain fell 2.2 percent, which meant 94,727 fewer people unemployed when compared with May, local media reported on Friday.

According to data from the Spanish Ministry of Employment, 4,120,304 people were registered as unemployed in June.

The number of unemployed women fell by 41,265 people from May to June to a total of 2,242,606 unemployed women, while the number of unemployed men fell by 53,462 people to a total of 1,877,698 people.

Regarding sectors, unemployment fell in all sectors except from the agriculture sector where it rose by 7,027 people.

Unemployment significantly fell in the services sector by 61,887 people, while falling by 14,139 people and 11,706 people in the industry and construction sectors respectively.

The beginning of the summer has always had an impact on Spain's unemployment figures, especially when it comes to the services sector as the Spanish hotel industry has to take on more workers to face the high demand of tourists. Enditem
