China's Chen runs through Chongli in 92nd straight marathon

Xinhua, July 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chen Penbin took a detour in his 92nd run of the 100-marathon-in-100-day campaign on Thursday in order to cross Chongli County in Zhangjiakou, which is bidding to co-host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games with Beijing.

It took China's first international ultra-marathon champion four hours, four minutes and 18 seconds to finish the run under the blue sky in Chongli, China's top ski resort.

Now there are only eight marathons to go.

"I hope Beijing and Zhangjiakou will win the bid," said the bearded Chen. "It means a lot to the Chinese people."

The 37-year-old started his journey from Guangzhou on April 2 and is expected to complete 100 in Beijing on July 10.

Chen ran 100km in the South Pole in 2014, becoming the first runner to compete ultra-marathons in all seven continents. Endi
