Sport beat Inter to remain Brazil Serie A leaders

Striker Andre scored twice as Sport Recife remained top of Brazil's Serie A standings with a 3-0 victory over Internacional on Wednesday.

Andre struck in the 10th and 36th minutes while Marlone also netted in the first half to all but secure the hosts victory by halftime at their Ilha do Retiro stadium.

The result lifted Sport to 22 points from 10 matches, ahead of Atletico Mineiro, who are two points behind.

In Rio de Janeiro, Vasco da Gama eased their crisis with with 1-0 victory over Avai.

Argentine Emanuel Biancucchi scored the winner in the 69th minute as Vasco won just their second match of the season to move up to 18th in the 20-team standings.

In other matches on Wednesday Atletico Mineiro beat Coritiba 2-0 while Palmeiras overcame Chapecoense 2-0. Endi
