Tokyo stocks rise 1.16 pct in morning amid gains in overseas market

Tokyo stocks rose 1.16 percent in the morning session of Thursday bolstered by overnight gains in European and U.S. markets.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 235.27 points, from Wednesday to end the morning at 20,564.59. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 14. 87 points, or 0.91 percent, at 1,651.28.

Gainers were led by financing business, construction and pharmaceutical issues. Endi
