Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their countries.
In his message, Li said China and Thailand are good neighbors, friends and partners, with the traditional friendship between the two peoples dating back to ancient times.
He said the healthy, steady development of bilateral relations over the past four decades has not only brought substantial benefits to the two countries and peoples, but also contributed to regional peace, stability and prosperity.
The China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is facing new opportunities, he added.
Li said the two sides are making great efforts to boost mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, particularly in the railway sector.
China is willing to work with Thailand to continue to deepen the two countries' traditional friendship and strive for more achievements in their friendly exchanges and cooperation, said the Chinese premier.
Prayut said Thailand and China have enjoyed a close and cordial relationship based on solid foundations and deep bonds of affinity and cultural ties.
Over the past 40 years, bilateral ties and cooperation have developed into the establishment of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, he said.
"I am pleased to note that the public and private sectors, as well as civil society organizations of our two nations, plan to co-organize a series of commemorative activities and events for this important milestone," said the Thai prime minister.
"I am very glad to see that our two governments share the aspiration to further enhance our multidimensional cooperation, which not only benefits the livelihoods of our peoples, but also contributes to the stability and prosperity in the region and beyond," he added. Endi
