Afghan president introduces defense minister-designate to parliament

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday introduced minister-designate for Defense, Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai to Wolesi Jirga or the Lower House of parliament for approval.

"My demand from the lawmakers is to repose trust and confirm him as the defense minister," second vice president Sarwar Danesh said at parliament after introducing the minister-nominee for defense to parliamentarians.

The Lower House is expected to confirm or reject the minister- designate within days.

Afghan Defense Ministry has been run by acting minister since the presidential inauguration in last September. Endi
