Toyota female executive resigns after involving in dope case

Xinhua, July 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Julie Hamp, Toyota's first female executive from the United States, has resigned after being arrested over importing a type of painkillers that is seen as narcotic drugs without prescription, the Japanese automaker said Wednesday.

Toyota "accepted her resignation after considering the concerns and inconvenience that recent events have caused our stakeholders, " the company said in a statement.

However, it stopped short over the ongoing investigation. Hamp, 55, was arrested in June for allegedly importing 57 pills of such painkiller and declare them as necklace in a U.S. airport. Endi
