Malaysian father, son sentenced to jail for inciting terrorism

A Malaysian father and his son were sentenced here Tuesday to 18 years' and 12 years' in jail respectively by the High Court for conspiring to incite terrorism in Malaysia.

The 49-year-old father Murad Halimmuddin Hassan is a former Islamic State militant who had served in Syria, and he faced two charges against him. His 25-year-old son Abu Daud Murad Halimmuddin had one charge.

Six people, including these two, were detained in April for allegedly promoting terrorism in Malaysia.

The case against the other four accused, who maintained their non-guilty plea, will go on in court on Aug. 28. Endi
