Thai PM to attend 7th Mekong-Japan Summit

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o- cha will attend the 7th Mekong-Japan Summit to be held in Tokyo, Japan, with the goal of advancing cooperation in various areas, Foreign Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn said Tuesday.

Prayut will arrive in Tokyo on Thursday and attend the event along with leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Japan, Thanasak said.

The summit is aimed at promoting cultural, economic and social cooperation, as well as narrowing social gaps, he said, adding it will also discuss water management and other related issues.

While in Japan, Prayut is expected to meet with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and discuss the enhancement of Thai- Japanese ties regarding railway development and agricultural exports. Endi
