Xinhua, June 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

People from a primary school and streets in Exeter, a southwestern city in England were evacuated after two suspicious packages were found Monday morning, local media reported.

Local police said one of the packages has been safely dealt with.

A package, with wires hanging out, was found attached to St Sidwell's school railings at around 7 a.m. local time (6 a.m. GMT), and another one was found at a car park at the King William Street later at 9: 15 a.m. local time, according to local media reports.

The package at the school was found by a school caretaker. People within 100 meters of two packages have been evacuated from the area, including about 200 pupils and 40 nursery children.

Media reported the evacuation has caused significant disruption to the transport services.

Devon & Cornwall Police later said that after assessment by bomb disposal experts, the device found at the King William Street has been safely dealt with.

Reports said the other one is expected to be dealt with later this afternoon, adding road closures around the city center remain to ensure the matter can be safely resolved. People are asked to avoid driving into the city center. Enditem
