Singapore stocks close 1.23 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 40.72 points, or 1.23 percent, to close at 3,280.18.

A total of 1.26 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 02 billion Singapore dollars (761 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 391 to 93, while 477 others finished unchanged.
