ECB to maintain its current level of ELA to Greece

Xinhua, June 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

The European Central Bank (ECB) on Sunday announced that it would keep the emergency liquidity to Greece at the current level.

"Given the current circumstances, the Governing Council decided to maintain the ceiling to the provision of emergency liquidity assistance (ELA) to Greek banks at the level decided on Friday," said an announcement by the ECB.

The Governing Council stands ready to reconsider its decision, it said.

The ECB said it would work closely with the Bank of Greece to maintain financial stability in Greece after the Greek authorities decided to hold a referendum.

The ECB in the past raised the ceiling of the ELA to Greece for several times and it currently stands at about 85 billion euros. Endit
