Sevilla midfielder Stephane Mbia joins Turkish league

Xinhua, June 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Sevilla midfielder Stephane Mbia has joined Turkish super league club Trabzonspor on a three-year deal, according to an announcement on the club's website Saturday.

It had been speculated that the 29-year-old Cameroonian defensive midfielder was on the verge of signing for Inter Milan.

The Cameroonian footballer had been plying his trade at Spanish side Sevilla for the past two seasons, winning back-to-back Europa League titles. He had joined the Sevilla on loan from the relegated Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.

Trabzonspor now has a star-studded squad, including former Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo, Jose Bosingwa, and Kevin Constant, but have failed to put up a challenge for the Turkish championship, finishing at 5th place.

Stephane Mbia had flown to Turkey and met club officials in mid-June. Another famous Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto'o signed a three-year agreement with Turkish side Antalyaspor, as the club announced last Friday. Endi
