Abducted Lebanese freed in southern Nigeria: police

The police in oil rich southern Nigerian state of Bayelsa has rescued two Lebanese construction workers abducted by unknown gunmen in Ogbia area of the state.

The Lebanese were freed on Thursday following massive crackdown by combined security forces in the area, state police spokesperson, Asinim Butswat told Xinhua on Friday.

He said the Lebanese were rescued at Okodi in Ogbia riverine community where they were abandoned by the kidnappers due to massive manhunt by police.

They have been reunited with their families, the police spokesperson added, noting that efforts were being intensified to arrest the kidnappers and bring them to book.
