Philippine gov't condemns killing of CNN's Philippine cameraman

Xinhua, June 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Philippine government condemned Friday the killing of an employee of CNN Philippines.

Jonathan Oldan, a cameraman of CNN Philippines, was shot dead in Pinagbuklod village, Imus City in northern province of Cavite while on his way to work on Thursday.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said the Philippine National Police has been directed to pursue those who may have been responsible for his death "so that the ends of justice may be served."

Authorities have yet to determine the motive of the killing.

According to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, if the death of Oldan, a single father, was work related, he would be the third media practitioner killed this year, the 27th under the Aquino administration, and the 167th since 1986. Endi
