Schalke sign defender Caicara

Brazilian defender Junior Caicara joined the "Royal Blues" Schalke from Bulgarian champions Ludogrets Razgard, the German club confirmed in an official statement on Thursday.

Schalke sealed the transfer for the upcoming season as the 26-year-old right back inked a three-year deal, until June 2018.

"We have closely observed him in the past few months and we are convinced of his abilities. Junior is thrilled and really wants to take the next step in his career," Schalke's manager Horst Heldt said.

Caicara played since 2012 for Bulgarian outfit Ludogrets Razgard to win the championship three times in row. He lifted besides that the Bulgarian Cup in 2012 and 2014 and the Supercup in 2013 and 2015. He made overall 82 appearances and played six group-stage games in the UEFA Champions League last season.

The "Royal Blues" completed the last Bundesliga season on the 6th place of the standings. Endi
