FTSE 100 ends higher on Wednesday

The FTSE 100 Index, Britain's benchmark stock market gauge, edged up slightly by 0.15 percent, or 9.93 points, to 6,844.80 on Wednesday.

International creditors and the Greek government were still struggling to bridge the debt gaps on Wednesday, which weighed down Europe's major stock markets.

Royal Mail's share price increased by 2.85 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips.

Carnival, Wm. Morrison Supermarkets, Sainsbury and Royal Dutch Shell 'A' advanced by 2.64 percent, 2.61 percent, 2.34 percent and 2.32 percent respectively.

Sage Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a steep share price drop of 6.01 percent, followed by Inmarsat (2.42 percent), Taylor Wimpey (2.37 percent), Barratt Developments (2.29 percent) and Hargreaves Lansdown (2.08 percent). Endit
