Israel revokes entry permits for 500 Gazans

Israel Wednesday revoked permits from Gazan Palestinians intending to enter Jerusalem, citing a rocket fired Tuesday from Gaza at Israel as the reason.
Major General Yoav Mordechai, Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), told Xinhua Israel canceled the permits of 500 Gazan men and women granted leave from Gaza before Friday prayers at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
The permits were issued as Israel eased a few restrictions prior to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Mordechai said the rocket landed "near the Erez Crossing," making travel for people "risky" in the crossing.
The rocket burst in an open field in the Regional Council of Ashkelon Coast Tuesday, with no injuries or damages. Endit
