Over 748 people including 35 children died and thousands of others have been shifted to various hospitals after suffering from heat stroke in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi over the last four days, hospital sources said Wednesday.

Dr. Seemi Jamali, medical superintendent of Karachi's biggest state-run Jinnah Medical Center, said they have received over 200 people who were either dead or died of heat stroke at the hospital. (Pakistan-Heat Wave-Toll)

SEOUL -- South Korea's appeals court on Wednesday ordered the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to indemnify some of the victims mobilized to the Japanese company for forced labor during the World War II.

The high court in Gwangju, some 330 km south of Seoul, upheld a lower court's ruling that Mitsubishi should pay damages to four victims and one bereaved family member as the company forcibly mobilized the victims for hard labor under the 1910-45 Japanese colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula. FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- Two persons including district governor sustained injuries as a bomb blast rocked Kasham district in the northern Badakhshan province on Wednesday, spokesman for the provincial government Ahmad Naved Farotan said.

"Abdul Jabbar Musadiq, the governor of Kasham district, along with his bodyguard, was injured after a remote-controlled bomb struck the district headquarters at around 11:00 a.m. local time today," Farotan told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Attack)

HANOI -- Vietnam is bracing typhoon Kujira, which made landfall in the country's northeastern localities on Wednesday noon, according to the national center for hydro-meteorological forecasting.

The typhoon brought strong gale of up to level 10-12. The coastal areas of Quang Ninh province (some 120 km east of capital Hanoi) and Hai Phong city (some 90 km east of capital Hanoi) suffered strong gale at level 9-10, the center said on its website.
