Xinhua, June 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's National Meteorological Center remained on blue alert for typhoon Kujira on Wednesday morning.

Kujira, the eighth typhoon of 2015, made landfall in south China's Hainan Province on Monday evening, bringing heavy rain to the island which has been suffering a drought.

The typhoon is expected to move north from Wednesday morning at a speed of about 15 kilometers per hour, bringing heavy winds to the South China Sea and east of Hainan Island.

Downpours will hit parts of Yunnan Province, Hainan Island and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Wednesday to Thursday afternoon.

Meteorologists warned ships against passing through sea areas affected by the storm.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endi
